2008.09.22 - 10.03

From 22nd September to 3rd October 2008 during Communication and Information Technology Workshops ASTER '08 in Żagań, functional mobile elements of the JASMINE System underwent practical tests of cooperation with radio communication means exploited by the Polish Armed Forces.

Main purpose of the tests was to evaluate possibilities of implementation and introduction of new technologies at tactical levels in the context of development networkcentric capabilities.

Among the vehicles used in the workshops were ones equipped or upgraded with on-board version of the JASMINE System (mainly WAN Access Box and computer terminals with C3IS JASMINE software). They included: Command Vehicles HMMV, Command Vehicle ŻUBR WD as well as technological demonstrator BFT JASMINE.

During the workshops, practical-functional tests of ŻUBR WD Command Vehicle were run (the vehicle received the DEFENDER prize during XVIth MSPO in Kielce). Its transmission possibilities were tested with the use of system surroundings, equipped with radio means hitherto used by the Polish Armed Forces (RRC9500, RRC 9310, F@stnet, RKS8000 and RF800), as well as newly introduced and proposed for implementation in the Polish Army (HCDR, SpearNet and satellite terminals). The tests and trials that ŻUBR underwent proved that this vehicle allows implementation of IP technology, that it is based on, as well as cooperation with the systems and equipment of an older generation.

During the workshops, full functionality of the C3IS JASMINE command system was confirmed. The system exchanged operational data, sent reports, cooperated with on-board communication module and displayed situation on the battlefield in real time. Common battlefield picture could be observed in C3IS JASMINE System at all the work posts in: command vehicles (ŻUBR WD, HMMV, BFT JASMINE), command posts deployed in tents, stationary and individual terminals (PDA + SpearNet radio) of single soldiers operating in the terrain.
